McInnes, Percy Norman Leopold

BORN SWINEFLEET 1883. SON OF HENRY McINNES (1848-1915) & ELIZABETH McINNES, FROM HULL. HE WAS RAISED IN HULL AND TRAINED AT HULL’S BARCLAY BANK. HIS SISTER LIVED AT 49 PRINCES AVENUE, HULL. HE WAS WELL KNOWN IN HULL BUSINESS CIRCLES. HE MOVED TO SCARBOROUGH TO BECOME A CASHIER AT BARCLAY’S BANK. ENLISTED IN THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WENT TO FRANCE 28/07/1915. SERVED AS SECOND LIEUTENANT, IN THE 2ND YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. WOUNDED AT THE SOMME. HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON 20/07/1916. BURIED AT BAILLEUL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, NORD, FRANCE. HE WAS AGED 34 AND A WIDOWER. HIS WIFE, FLORENCE COLLIER (1877-1914), HAD DIED TWO YEARS BEFORE. HE LEFT £1,712 IN HIS WILL TO HIS BROTHERS EDWIN (A BANK CLERK), OSWALD (SHIP’S SURVEYOR) AND SISTER ANNIE EVELYN HOPPS, AT TIS PROBATE ADDRESS. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 4TH AUGUST 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
