Mendham, James Albert

Born Beverley, 1899. Eldest son of George Albert Mendham (1877-1955) and Ada Scaife (1880-1958), of 15, Tindle Lane, Wednesday Market, Beverley, Yorkshire (CWGC address).

Son of a farm Labourer. He had three brothers and one sister.

Enlisted at Beverley. Formerly 93317, 8Th T.R. Battalion. Served as Private in the 5th Battalion, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, No 58059. Died of wounds, on 26 May 1918, aged 19. Buried at Doullens Communal Cemetery Extension No. 2, Somme, France.

His army effects were left to his mother, Ada Mendham.
