BORN HULL 1884. ONLY SON OF THOMAS MESSENGER & MARY ANN ARNOT, AT 37 , SOUTHCOATES LANE, HULL. HE WAS A PLUMBER BY TRADE, WORKING IN DOMESTIC HOUSES AND ON SHIPS FOR MR T. CAWKILL, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL. HIS WIFE, ROSE MESSENGER LIVED AT 6 PORTER’S PLACE, PORTER STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS. TRAINED AT RIPON, SALISBURY. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. REPORTED THAT HE DIED OF SHRAPNEL WOUNDS TO HIS HEAD, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 32. HE IS COMMEMORATED AT THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
HIS DEATH IS ALSO RECORDED ON THE FAMILY GRAVE AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.
