BORN HULL 1893. SON OF ALFRED MIDFORTH (1860-1936) & ADA ANNIE PAPE (1867-1949), OF 1 RICHMOND TERRACE, DURHAM STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS) & 7, TRINITY SQUARE, CARR LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE ALSO LIVED AT 6 HERBERTS TERRACE, WALLER STREET AND 7 BELLE VIEW, MIDDLEBURG STREET, HULL, WITH HIS TWO SISTERS ADA AND FLORENCE.

HE WORKED AS A SAW MILLER AND FIREMAN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 35-37 INCH CHEST, 119 LBS WEIGHT.

HE ENLISTED WITH THE HULL PALS ON 16/11/1914. TRAINED AT BEVERLEY AND RIPON. SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN EGYPT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 08/03/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 23. HE HAD BEEN IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 363 DAYS.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS INCLUDED LETTERS AND HIS ID DISC AND WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ADA.

HE IS BURIED AT LUKE COPSE BRITISH CEMETERY, PUISIEUX. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “JUST WAITING FOR HIS LOVED ONES”.
