BORN ISLINGTON, LONDON, ON 29/03/1865. HE MARRIED CHARLOTTE BROWN AT HULL IN 1902. EMPLOYED IN THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE AS A SHIP’S ENGINEER. REPORTED AS DIED, ON 16/09/1917, AGED 52. HE HAD SERVED ON MINESWEEPERS FOR TWO AND HALF YEARS, SEEING ACTION IN THE DARDENELLES. HE HAD BEEN DISCHARGED FROM THE SHIP AS MEDICALLY UNFIT. A PATIENT OF IMMINGHAM HOSPITAL AND THEN REMOVED TO CHATHAM HOSPITAL AND WAS DISCHARGED SIX WEEKS AGO. HE RETURNED HOME, BUT NEVER RECOVERED. HE HAD BEEN ON TRAWLERS ALL HIS ADULT LIFE, SAILING WITH THE HELLYER FLEET, AS AN ENGINEER. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND ONE CHILD AND ALWAYS WENT BY THE NAME “HARRY”.
HIS WIDOW AND DAUGHTER LIVED AT 12 LINCOLN TERRACE, LIDDELL STREET, HULL. RECORDED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 29/09/1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
