BORN GRIMSBY 03/10/1893. SON OF TOM MONDAY (1868-1917) & HARRIET MONDAY (1869-1960), OF 11, RUSSELL TERRACE, BEAN STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A SHIP WRIGHT. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN.
HE JOINED THE ROYAL MARINES AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR AND WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 24/06/1915, AGED 21. BEFORE ENLISTING HE WAS A BUS CONDUCTOR ON THE CORPORATION TRAMWAYS.
ALBERT MONDAY IS COMMEMORATED ON THE HELLES MEMORIAL AT GALLIPOLI. HE IS ALSO REMEMBERED ON ST MATHEWS CHURCH MEMORIAL, BOULEVARD. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 25TH JUNE 1917 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, PRIVATE, 10/267, JOHN HENRY MONDAY, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED ON 04/06/16, AGED 20. HIS OTHER BROTHER, TOM MONDAY, WAS WOUNDED AT THE SOMME, ON 13/07/1916. A SAD LOSS FOR HIS PARENTS.
