BORN HULL 1898. SON OF LATE WILLIAM VALENTINE MONSEY (1858-1909) & HANNAH ELIZABETH MONSEY (1858-1910). A POST OFFICE WORKER FOR FOUR YEARS BEFORE WAR BEGAN. HE RESIDED AT 3 VICTOR STREET, HULL. HIS BROTHER, SERGEANT, MONSEY, LIVED AT 252 NEW BRIDGE ROAD, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN THE 2ND/8TH CITY OF LONDON REGIMENT (POST OFFICE RIFLES) IN LONDON. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 30/10/1917, AGED 19. HE IS COMMEMORATED AT THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 26/11/1917. *

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS, ERNEST, FRANK, BERTIE, ELSIE AND PERCY. HIS BROTHER, HAROLD CHARLES MONSEY, HAD EMIGRATED TO AUSTRALIA, JOINED THE 18TH AIF, AND WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI ON 22/08/1915, AGED 34.
