HE WORKED AS A SHIP RIGGER. HUSBAND OF DOROTHY FLORENCE ESPINER (1894-1980), AT 10, CURZON STREET, NEWINGTON, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 1, TYNE STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). THEY HAD ONE SON, JOHN ESPINER MONTGOMERY, BORN 08/01/1916.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 07/08/1914. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 20/04/1915. SERVED AS A FITTER CORPORAL, 2ND NORTHUMBRIAN ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 24/05/1915, AGED 27. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

HE IS LISTED AS KILLED ON HULL’S TYNE STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (HULL DAILY MAIL, 22/09/1916).
