BORN HULL 20/7/1886. SON OF GEORGE ISSAC & EMILY MOORE. HUSBAND OF LIZ (YOUNG), OF 18 RICHMOND TERRACE, STRICKLAND STREET, HULL. HE WAS A BRICKLAYER’S LABOURER, FOR ARTHUR BROWN, REGENT STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS. WOUNDED BY A SHELL BALST IN THE TRENCHES. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, FOUR DAYS LATER, ON 02/08/1917,AGED 30. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND FOUR CHILDREN. HIS COMMANDING OFFICER, DESCRIBED HIM, “AS ONE OF THE BEST MEN IN THE COMPANY. A COOL, STEADY AND HARD WORKER IN THE TRENCHES, THAT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE.”
Photograph of Private James Moore (Service Number 26421) of D Company, 13th East Yorkshire Regiment. Moore died on 2nd August 1917 at a casualty clearing station, from wounds received in action, and was buried in France in the Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension
