From Attestation (Territorial Force) pension record of Private Frank Mowforth Enlisted 29th May 1915 to 4th Battalion of East Yorkshire Regiment, Frank Mowforth, Westella, Hull, gardener. Place of birth: Hull. Religion: Church of England. Age 19 years and 3 mths. Height: 5ft 7ins. Chest measurement: 34ins. Vision: normal. Physical development: good. Next of kin: Charles Mowforth, West Ella, Hull. Discharged on 10th Mar 1916 as a consequence of being medically unfit – epilepsy. Report of Medical Board states “originated 4 years ago at Hull. Not the result of nor aggravated by ordinary military service. Permanent. Capacity lessened by 3/4 permanently”. Aged 20 at commencement of pension.
1918 – Private 39734,1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment
His brothers Private Frederick Mowforth served in the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) and his Regimental Number was 65955. Frederick formally served with the Yorkshire Light Infantry (Regimental Number 5730). He was killed in action on the 10th October 1917.
Frederick’s brother Henry also served in the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), Regimental Number 46885. Henry was formally with the East Yorkshire Regiment 24453. he was killed in action on the 3rd September 1918.
In 1911 the Mowforth parents lived In West Ella. Their father was called Charles (a farmer) and their mother was called Jane. Frank (aged 14 in 1911) was killed in action on the 10th September 1918 (a week after his brother Henry. Frank served with the 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment with a Regimental Number of 39734.
