PROMOTED TO 2ND LIEUTENANT, OF THE YORK AND LANCS REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 07/08/1915, AGED 30. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND THREE CHILDREN. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 21/08/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

2nd Lieutenant George Philip Munson, York and Lancaster Regiment, formerly Staff Sergeant Army gymnastic staff, was born in 1885 in Kersey, Suffolk, the eldest child of George Munson, a farm worker and his wife Sarah. George was killed in action on 7 August 1915. He left a widow Lilla, whom he had married in 1909 while stationed in Pontefract, and three small children, who lived in Wood Lane, Beverley.
