Born Hull, 14/05/1885. Son of Charles and Margaret Murray, of Grimsby. He had two brothers and four sisters.
He emigrated to Canada where he married and then returned briefly to England, for work. He was working as a Boiler Cleaner, living with his sister, at 144 Daubney Street New Cleethorpes (1911 Census). He returned to Canada, where he worked as a Teamster.
He married at York, Ontario, on 21/12/1910. Husband of Jessie Ellen Murray (1890-1960), of 499 Eastern Avenue, Toronto, Canada. They had three children
He enlisted at Ontario, on 04/08/1915. Described as 5 foot, 4.5 inches tall,34-36 inch chest, brown eyes, brown hair, Church of England religion. He served with the 25th Canadian Expeditionary Force. Killed in action, at Ypres, on 10/06/1916, aged 32.
Buried at Bedford House Cemetery, Belgium. His grave inscription, reads, “HE DIED FOR FREEDOM”
