Born Hull, 1882. A Lighterman by trade, living at 7, Talbot Terrace, Bean Street, Hull (1911 Census). Described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 169 lbs weight, 42-45 inch chest, mole on left cheek.
He enlisted at Hull on 11th December 1915. Called up at Ripon, on 2nd November 1916. Served as a Gunner in the East Riding Royal Garrison Artillery and transferred as Acting Corporal in the Royal Engineers, Inland Water Transport.
Died of Heatstroke, at Basra, Iraq, on 29 Jul 1920.
Married at St Philips, Hull, on 7 Feb 1914. His army Effects were left to his widow, Florence Thorley, at 7, Talbot Terrace, Bean Street, Hull (War Pension address). They had three children, George, Annie and Edna.
