Myers, Thomas Herbert

Born Hornsea, East Yorkshire, 25 Jul 1874. Son of James Myers (1836-1915) and Anne Milner (1841-1920), of Skirlaugh, Yorkshire. He had four brothers and two sisters.

A former Gardener. He enlisted in the Royal Navy, on 23 Sep 1889. Described as 5 foot, 6 inches tall, light brown hair, blue eyes, tattoos on both arms.

Lived in Australia and South Africa.

Served as Leading Seaman on HMS “Defence”. Lost at the Battle of Jutland, 31/05/1916, aged 41. Commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial, Devon, UK

Married Elizabeth Wetherston, on 5 Sep 1909, at St Marys, Devonport. His widow Elizabeth lived 14 Marlbro Avenue, Hornsea and then Beverley Road, Hull. She married David Pickering, on 11th April 1918.
