Born Beverley, 1881. Only son of Thomas Neal (1852-1932) and Fanny Oglesby (1845-1903), of Butcher’s Row, St Martin Ward, Beverley, and Bridlington, East Yorkshire. He had three married sisters, who all lived in Beverley.
He was an apprentice Blacksmith before joining the army in March 1908, aged 27.
His wife Rebecca Neal and five children, lived at 44, Railway Terrace, Wilbert Lane, Beverley.
Enlisted at Beverley. Served as a Sergeant, in the 1/6th Durham Light Infantry. Died of leg wounds, on 06 May 1915, aged 34.
