HE HAD SEVEN BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS, WHO ALL LIVED AROUND BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL. HE MARRIED FLORENCE JOHNSON, AT ST ANDREWS CHURCH, HULL, ON 24/08/1912 AND LIVED AT 86, KENT STREET, HULL, WITH THEIR SON, ARTHUR.
A MACHINIST. HE WORKED FOR THE HULL RADIATOR COMPANY. HE WAS ALSO A WELL KNOWN FOOTBALLER AND CRICKETER.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 09/12/1915, AGED 28. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 34 INCH CHEST.
MOBILIZED ON 26/06/1917. HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE, AND WAS POSTED TO THE YORK AND LANCASTER REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/05/1918, AGED 30. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 17/06/1918. *

HE IS BURIED AT BIENVILLERS MILITARY CEMETERY, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “BEYOND RECALL BUT EVER IN THOUGHT”
