BORN HULL 1886. SON OF HENRY STEVEN NELSON ELIZA (GOULD) NELSON, OF 1 BLUE BELL YARD, WEST STREET, HULL.
HIS WIFE ANNIE, & TWO SONS, WILLIAM AND SYDNEY, LIVED AT 44 WESTBOURNE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 29 RIPON GROVE, BRUNSWICK AVENUE, HULL. HE WORKED AS A BRASS FINISHER.
HE JOINED THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY AND SERVED FOR TWO AND HALF YEARS. HE HAD BEEN GASSED, INJURED BY LIQUID FIRE AND HAD TRENCH FEVER. HE HAD RETURNED FROM LEAVE A FORTNIGHT AGO, WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 05/12/1917, AGED 30.
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, TO THE MISSING. HE IS REMEMBERED ON TH ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH MEMORIAL. NEWINGTON, HULL.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 02/02/1918. *
