BORN HULL 1882. SON OF WILLIAM ANDREW NEWALL AND ELIZABETH NEWALL, AT 13 ST PAULS AVENUE, CHURCH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE WAS A REGULAR SOLDIER. ENLISTING IN HULL ON 26/06/1900. HE THEN JOINED THE RESERVES AND WORKED AS A PLATER AND LABOURER FOR EARLES SHIPYARD.
CALLED UP AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. HE SERVED WITH THE 2ND YORK & LANCS REGIMENT. KILLED AT YPRES, WHILE ON SENTRY DUTY, ON 03/11/1915, AGED 33. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.
HE WAS UNMARRIED. HE LEFT A WIDOWED MOTHER, AT THIS ADDRESS. BROTHERS, GEORGE, JOSEPH AND WILLIAM, AND SISTERS, JANE AND IVY.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 20/11/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
