HE WORKED AS A COLOUR AND PAINT MERCHANTS CLERK. AS A TERRITORIAL SOLDIER, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO FRANCE EARLY ON THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. HE WAS KILLED SERVING WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 04/11/1914, AGED 21. HE IS BURIED AT CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, ARMENTIERES, NORD, FRANCE.
HIS BROTHER VINCENT NOLAN, DROWNED SERVING ON THE S/S ‘CAMBRIC, ON 31/10/1917, AGED 14. BOTH ARE LISTED ON THE HULL BOYS CLUB MEMORIAL, ROPER STREET, HULL.
