O'Keefe, Thomas

Born Hull 1880. Son of Thomas O’Keefe (1864-1921) & Mary Ellen Calvert, of 10, Cottingham Place, Charles Street, Hull (War Pension Address). He had five brothers and a sister.

In civilian life. he worked as a Dock labourer. He enlisted when war began. Serving as a Gunner, 164th, Royal Garrison Artillery. Wounded and discharged from the army, on 05/03/1917. He died of wounds and bronchitis aggravated by war service, on 20/02/1921, aged 41. He is buried in Hull

All his five brothers served in the war. Even his father, a former Sergeant, in the Royal garrison Artillery and well over military age enlisted, on the 24/09/1914. The O’Keefe’s  were featured as a patriotic family in the Hull Daily Mail. His father was discharged with wounds in 1917.

His brother, William Robert O’Keefe, 6th EYR, served at Gallipoli and was killed in action, on 21/08/1917, aged 21.
