Pearson, Arthur Harold

BORN HULL 06/12/1893. SON OF FRED PEARSON (1863-1942) AND EMILY PEARSON (1867-1943), OF  3, BLAYDES STREET, HULL AND 7, CHESTER AVENUE, MANVERS STREET, HULL. EDUCATED AT ST JOHNS SCHOOL, HULL. HE WAS A HORSE DRIVER FOR THE HULL CORPORATION, HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 12/08/1914. SERVED WITH THE 3RD BATTALION, COLDSTREAM GUARDS. KILLED BY A SNIPER AT LA BASSEE WHILE LOOKING THROUGH A LOOP HOLE. HE WAS KILLED INSTANTLY, ON 06/07/1915, AGED 21.

HE WAS RECORDED AS KILLED ON THE BLAYDES STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail, 21/12/1916). ALSO COMMEMORATED AT ST JOHN’S CHURCH, NEWLAND, HULL.

HE WAS BURIED IN THE CEMETERY AT CAMBRIN CHURCH YARD, ABOUT FOUR MILES EAST OF BETHUNE AND ABOUT TWO AND A HALF MILES WEST OF LAS BASSEE.

HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 13TH AUGUST 1915. *
