BORN HULL 1879. THIRD SON OF THE LATE RICHARD AND ANN PEARSON. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS, WILLIAM, RICHARD AND FRANK AND TWO SISTERS, CLARA AND ANNIE. HE MARRIED CHARLOTT FREEMAN (1879-1954), AT HULL IN 1902. THEY HAD FIVE DAUGHTERS AND A SON.
EMPLOYED AS A STARCH MILL HAND AT THE RECKITTS’ FACTORY. HE ENLISTED IN HULL PALS, ON 14/09/1914, AGED 35. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. RECEIVED GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE CHEST, ABDOMEN AND LEFT THIGH, AT SERRE, ON THE 13/11/1916. INVALIDED TO ENGLAND. RETURNED TO FRANCE ON 11/06/1917 AND WAS DANGEROUSLY WOUNDED AGAIN ON THE 07/07/1917. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, IN FRANCE ON 15/07/1917, AGED 38. HE HAD SERVED FOR 2 YEARS, AND 305 DAYS. HE LEFT A WIDOW, CHARLOTTE & 6 YOUNG CHILDREN AT 6 SYDNEY TERRACE, SIDMOUTH STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORD’S ADDRESS). SHE WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY PENSION OF 33 SHILLINGS AND NINE PENCE.
