Private, Samuel Pearson, 1st EYR, of Hull. Killed in action on 16/06/1917, aged 34.
The Four Pearson Brothers, John, Charles and Sam, were killed in the war.

BORN HULL 1885. SON OF SAMUEL PEARSON (1841-1906) & CHARLOTTE PEARSON (1846-1920), OF 8, FOUNTAIN PLACE, GREAT UNION STREET, HULL. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. ONE OF THREE SONS KILLED IN THE WAR.

HE MARRIED JANE ANN ANDERSON (1885-1951), ON 02/11/1905. HIS WIFE AND FIVE CHILDREN, LIVED AT 44, GREAT UNION STREET, HULLS. PRIOR TO ENLISTING HE WORKED ON HULL DOCKS AND RAN A TOBACCONIST AND SWEET SHOP IN DRYPOOL. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3.5 INCHES TALL, 115 LBS WEIGHT, 34.5-36 INCH CHEST.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 11/12/1915. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 12/12/1915. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EYR. RETURNED HOME, ON 25/07/1916 AND BACK TO FRANCE, ON 12/12/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 16/06/1917, AGED 32. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 24TH MAY 1917. *

HIS WIDOW, JANE ANN, WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION, OF 31 SHILLINGS AND FIVE PENCE, 31/12/1917, FOR HERSELF AND FIVE CHILDREN (SELINA MAY, DORIS, WILLIAM, OLIVE HILDA & CHARLES EDWARD).
HIS BROTHER PRIVATE, CHARLES PEARSON, DRAGOON GUARDS WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 30/08/1917, AGED 40. HIS OTHER BROTHER, JOHN ROBERT PEARSON, GLOUCESTER REGIMENT WAS KILLED, IN 1915, AGED 42.

HIS BROTHER, DRIVER, WILLIAM HOLMES PEARSON, SERVED IN MOTOR TRANSPORTS, IN FRANCE.

A BROTHER IN LAW, SERVED ON MINE SWEEPERS.
