BORN HULL 1893.  YOUNGEST SON OF CAPTAIN, WILLIAM HENRY PINCHON & ELIZA BOSTON PINCHON, OF 15, RYDE STREET, HULL, 60, PARK GROVE, HULL & “LEYS COTTAGE”, ATWICK ROAD, HORNSEA. ONE OF FOUR BROTHERS. EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. HE WORKED FOR B. SMITH’S GROCERS BEFORE ENLISTING IN 1911. DESCIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6 INCHES TALL, 34-35.5 INCH CHEST, NORMAL VISION, GOOD PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS DRIVER, PINCHON, 873, NORTHUMBRIAN ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, ON THE 17/01/1911, AT THE AGE OF 17 AND 5 MONTHS. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 1077, 10th EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH LINCONSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 21/10/1918, AGED 25, AT NO:3 CASUALTY CLEARING STATION, FRANCE.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL MEMORIAL AND AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, NEWLANDS, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL.

HE IS BURIED ON THE SOMME. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “SERVANT OF GOD, WELL DONE”.
