BORN HULL 1890. SON OF ARTHUR (A BLACKSMITH) & ELLEN PITTOCK, 9 INGLEMIRE LANE. HE JOINED THE 3RD EYR ON 1/9/14. HE WAS UNMARRIED AND LIVED AT 23 HAWORTH STREET, COTTINGHAM ROAD. HE WAS ALSO A FORMER CHOIR BOY AT ST JOHN’S CHURCH, NEWLAND.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. KILLED IN ACTION, AT YPRES, ON 23/04/1915, AGED 25. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 14TH MAY 1915, AND THE HULL TIMES, ON 15/05/1915.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHN’S CHURCH, NEWLAND.
