Born Sessay, Yorkshire, 1895. Eldest son of Thomas and Margaret Prest, of Ripon; husband of Elizabeth Prest, of 2, Skellyard, Skellgarths, Ripon, Yorkshire (CWGC address) and 95, Clarendon Street, Hull (War Pension address). he had two brothers and five younger sisters.
He was a Labourer at a Lime Quarry. hemarried Elizabeth Bogg, at Hull in 1918.
He enlisted at Harrogate. Formerly 2717, West Yorkshire Regiment. transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), 49th Bn. Killed in action, on 13/04/1918, aged 23. Buried in Belgium.
His army effects were left to his widow, Elizabeth. She was awarded a weekly war pension of 13/9. They had no children.
