ATTACHED TO THE ROYAL ENGINEERS, 32ND DIVISIONAL SIGNAL COMPANY. HE RECEIVED THE MILITARY MEDAL FOR GALLANTRY. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIDOW, MABEL, AFTER HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 10TH JULY 1917. BURIED AT COXYDE MILITARY CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION READS, “REST IN PEACE”
