Formerly, Private, 242541, East Surrey Regiment. Transferred to the 4th/5th Bn., The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Killed in action on 26/10/1917, aged 27.
He his commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. His army effects were left to his widow.
