LIVED AT 3 NANSEN MOUNT, AND 5 ROSEMONT AVENUE, BRAMLEY, LEEDS. WORKED AS AN ORGAN PIPE APPRENTICE. HE ENLISTED IN LEEDS. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL IN THE 15TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME, 1ST JULY 1916, AGED 20. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, WILLIAM.
