BORN COTTINGHAM 1891. SON OF CHARLES WILLIAM PYBUS (1865-1946) & MARY ELIZABETH PYBUS (1861-1949), OF 173 FINKLE STREET , COTTINGHAM.  SON OF A GENERAL LABOURER. ELDEST  OF FIVE SONS. WORKED AS A SHOP ASSISTANT IN A GROCERS. HIS WIFE LOTTIE SLIGHT, LIVED AT THIS ADDRESS. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A DRIVER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 03/08/917, AGED 26. COMMEMORATED AT THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL AT YPRES.  HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, MARY. HIS BROTHER , PRIVATE FRED PYBUS, 7TH EYR, WAS KILLED AT ARRAS, ON 12/05/1917, AGED 23. BOTH BROTHERS, ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE COTTINGHAM METHODIST CHURCH WW1 MEMORIAL PLAQUE.
