BORN HULL 1888. SON OF GEORGE H. RAYNER & JANE ANN (MOON) OF 2, ALEXANDER TERRACE, CROWLE STREET, HULL. A FORMER TRINITY HOUSE BOY. HE WAS FOR TWO YEARS AN OFFICER IN THE ELLERMAN WILSON LINE, AFTER SERVING HIS APPRENTICESHIP WITH MESSRS, WATTS AND WATTS CO. KNOWN TO HIS SHIPMATES AS “PUNCH”. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO HE RECEIVED PROMOTION, AS CHIEF OFFICER ON THE SHIP HE WAS SERVING. HE WAS REPORTED AS DROWNED IN ST MALO DOCKS, AGED 30. HE DIED AT ST MALO PORT, FRANCE, ON 11/02/1918, AGED 30.

HE LEFT WIDOW ELLEN & CHILDREN.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM 19/02/1918. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE TRINITY HOUSE ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL.
