BORN HULL 1895. SON OF JOHN ROBERT & ELIZABETH REDHEAD, OF 1, SELINAS CRESCENT, ROSMEAD STREET, HULL, 7, TORQUAY VILLAS, ROSMEAD STREET, HULL AND 18, PRINCESS TERRACE, NORNABELL STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES). THEY LATER MOVED TO BRIDLINGTON.

WALTER ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE HAD BEEN IN FRANCE SEVEN MONTHS BEFORE HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 20/09/1916, AGED 21. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 16TH OCTOBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*

HE IS BURIED AT HEILLY STATION CEMETERY, MERICOURT-L’ABBE, SOMME, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “NOW WITH TRIUMPHAL PALMS HE STANDS BEFORE THE THRONE ON HIGH”.

HIS TWO BROTHERS ALSO SERVED.
