BORN HULL 14/04/1889. ELDEST SON OF THE LATE FREDERICK AND ELLEN ROBINSON – 75 GEORGE STREET, GOOLE. EDUCATED AT GOOLE BOARD SCHOOL. WORKED AS A LABOURER IN WEBSTER AND BICKERTON YARD. ENLISTED IN THE 1ST KINGS OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. SERVED IN CHINA FOR SIX YEARS, COMPLETING HIS COLOUR SERVICE IN JANUARY 1914. RE-JOINED FROM THE ARMY RESERVES WHEN WAR BEGAN. ARRIVED IN FRANCE IN AUGUST 1914. WOUNDED IN ACTION AT HILL 60, AND INVALIDED HOME. RETURNED TO FRANCE AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/03/1916, AGED 27. BURIED IN BON JEAN CEMETERY. HE WAS UNMARRIED.
HIS BROTHER, PTE, JAMES ROBINSON, 1ST EYR, WAS KILLED 0N 18/10/1914, AGED 19. THEY ARE BOTH RECORDED IN THE DE RUVIGNY ROLLS OF HONOUR.
HE IS BURIED AT CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, ARMENTIERES, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “LOVING SON OF ELLEN ROBINSON GOOLE MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE EVER REMEMBERED”
