Born East Halt0n, Lincolnshire. Son of George and Elizabeth Ross, of The Homelands, East Halton, Lincs. (CWGC address). He had two elder brothers and two sisters.

He enlisted in Hull. Served as Sapper, 529th (East Riding) Field Coy., Royal Engineers. Died of wounds, on 18/06/1917, aged 20. Buried at Monchy, France.

His grave reads, IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR DEAR SON ALWAYS REMEMBERED ALWAYS LOVED.
