SS Oslo, built by Earle’s Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd., Hull in 1906 and owned at the time of her loss by Ellerman’s Wilson Line, Ltd., Hull, was a British steamer of 2296 tons. On August 21st, 1917, Oslo, on a voyage from Trondheim to Liverpool with a cargo of copper ore, was sunk by the German submarine U-87 (Rudolf Schneider), 15 miles ExN of the Out Skerries, Shetland Islands. 3 persons were lost. Allen Tony 08/09/2007 OSLO SS was a British Merchant steamer of 2,296grt. On the 21st August 1917 when on route from Drontheim for Liverpool she was torpedoed by German submarine U-87 and sunk when 15 miles E x N from Out Skerries, Shetland.
