BORN HULL 25/06/1895. SON JAMES JOPLING RUMBLE (1860-1941) & REBECCA RUDD BURNHAM (1861-1903), OF VICTORIA DOCK TAVERN, WATERHOUSE LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN AND THREE BROTHERS LOST IN THE WAR. HIS WIFE MARY ANN RUMBLE LIVED AT 8 TYNE STREET, HULL

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL IN THE 6TH EASY YORKSHIRE PIONEERS. LEFT FOR THE DARDENELLES ON 14/07/1915. KILLED IN ACTION AT GALLIPOLI, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 20. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JAMES. HIS NAME IS RECORDED. ON THE LOCKWOOD STREET ROLL OF HONOUR.
HIS BROTHER, JOHN RUMBLE, WAS SKIPPER OF THE FISHING VESSEL, “JERSEY” LOST AT SEA ON 05/11/1915, AGED 27. HIS OTHER BROTHER, JAMES HENRY RUMBLE, A DECKHAND IN THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE, DIED ON 19/11/1916, AGED 29, AND IS BURIED IN HULL.
