BORN SALFORD, MANCHESTER, 1883. SON OF JOHN SABIN (1850-1941) AND MARY ANN LEE (1850-1925). SON OF A DOMESTIC GARDENER. HE HAD THREE SISTERS AND A BROTHER.
HE MARRIED CLARA SHARP (1885-1974), AT HULL, IN OCTOBER 1907. HIS WIFE CLARA SABIN & FIVE CHILDREN, LIVED AT NO 1 & 20 PARK TERRACE, CAVE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEIR THREE DAUGHTERS, WERE, LILY, RUTH AND HILDA, & TWO SONS, RICHARD AND GEORGE.
GEORGE LEE SABIN WORKED AS A COOPER’S LABOURER FOR MESSRS, MAJOR & CO, SCULCOATES, HULL. HE WAS A RESERVIST AND CALLED UP AT THE START OF WAR. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A DRIVER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 01/11/1914, AGED 31. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES, MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM, TO THE MISSING.
HIS DEATH IS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 12TH DECEMBER 1914. *
HIS WIDOW, CLARA, WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 24 SHILLINGS AND SIXPENCE, FOR HERSELF AND FIVE CHILDREN, ON 14/06/1915.
