BORN HULL 1896. SON OF JOHN SAYER (1859-1912) & HANNAH FISHER (1854-1924), OF 7, ABERDEEN TERRACE, WEST DOCK AVENUE, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS) AND 46, WEST DOCK AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. A GROCER’S ASSISTANT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 22357, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS. DIED OF WOUNDS AT ARRAS, ON 3RD MAY 1917, AGED 20.

HIS BROTHER. PRIVATE, JAMES EDWARD SAYER, 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 4TH OCTOBER 1917, AGED 25.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, ARTHUR SAYER (1889-1938), 22512, EYR, WAS AWARDED THE SILVER WAR BADGE AND LIVED WITH HIS WIFE JULIA ANN, AT 33, WEST DOCK AVENUE, HULL.
