Born Crane Moor, West Yorkshire, 27 Oct 1886. Son of Charles Shepherd and the late Harriet Shepherd (1859-1908), of Thurgoland, Yorkshire.
He was a coal miner working in Lionel Hill Crane Moor, Near Sheffield (1911 Census).
He married at Beverley in 1916. Husband of Annie Bolton (4/4/1889-1971), at 3, Mablefield Road, Beverley, Yorkshire (war pension address).
Served with the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, 2nd/5th Bn. Killed in action, on 20 Nov 1917, aged 30.
Buried at Hermies Hill British Cemetery, France
