BORN WETWANG, DRIFFIELD, 1890. A HULL POLICEMAN, SERVING WITH HULL’S GORDON STREET DIVISION FOR THREE YEARS. HE WAS HIGHLY RESPECTED.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 4608 EAST YORKHIRE REGIMENT. HE TRANSFERRED TO THE 29TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 14/10/1918, AGED 28. HE LEFT WIDOW, FLORENCE ETHEL SHIPLEY, & TWO CHILDREN, JOHN AND ANNIE, AT 7, CALTHORPE GARDENS, NEWINGTON STREET, HULL & 1, OLIVE GROVE, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES).
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON THE 22ND OCTOBER 1918. *
