HE LIVED AT  263, ST GEORGES ROAD, HULL (HIS ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). SON OF A POLICE CONSTABLE. BROTHER OF DAVID, HARRY, ALBERT, CYRIL, DORIS & MINNIE.

A BOILER MAKER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 127 LBS WEIGHT, 35-37 INCH CHEST SIZE, “GOOD” PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT, GREY EYES, BROWN HAIR, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION,ANCHOR TATTOO ON LEFT ARM.

HE ENLISTED IN THE 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE (PIONEERS), AT BEVERLEY, ON 19/10/1914. TRAINED AT BEVERLEY, BELTON PARK AND WITLEY CAMP. POSTED TO THE DARDENELLES ON 14/07/1915. KILLED IN ACTION, AT GALLIPOLI, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 22.

HE WAS REPORTED MISSING IN ACTION AND HIS PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 22ND DECEMBER 1915. * HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER AT 263 ST GEORGES ROAD, HULL.
