BORN HULL 15/05/ 898. SON OF ROBERT SLEIGHT (1867-1934) AND RACHAEL KAY LORD (1861-1946), OF 11, WHITWORTH STREET, SOUTHCOATES, AVENUE, HULL, (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD A BROTHER AND TWO SISTERS.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, DRIVER, 228365, R.A.S.C. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH EAST SUREY REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 25/10/1918, AGED 20. (BATTLE OF SELLE). HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER RACHEL. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ST AIDENS CHURCH, WW1 MEMORIAL PLAQUE, SOUTHCOATES AVENUE, HULL.
BURIED AT PREUX-AU-BOIS COMMUNAL CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “WE LOVED HIM WELL BUT JESUS LOVED HIM BEST”.
HIS ONLY BROTHER, RAYMOND ROGERS SLEIGHT, DIED OF CONSUMPTION, IN HULL, ON 03/07/1919, AGED 18.
