Sonley, James Edmund

BORN WELTON 1892. SON OF GEORGE WILLIAM SONLEY (1840-1902) & SARAH ANN DODSWORTH (1861-1924), OF WELTON, EAST RIDING & 108, GREAT THORNTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS. RESIDED AT 9, NEPEAN GROVE, TYNE STREET, HULL, WITH HIS AUNT & UNCLE, HENRY AND HARRIET SMITH (1911 CENSUS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED IN THE 8TH ROYAL WEST KENT REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 22/02/1916, AGED 18. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS UNCLE, HENRY SMITH.

HE IS RECORDED AS KILLED IN ACTION, ON HULL’S TYNE STREET, ROLL OF HONOUR (HDM 23/09/1916)
