Allen Tony † 29/09/2008 STANHOPE SS was a British Merchant steamer of 2,854grt. On the 17th June 1917 when on route from Barrow for Dunkirk she was torpedoed by German submarine UB-31 and sunk when 7 miles SW x W from Start Point, Devon. Owned by Letricheux & David Ltd, Swansea. 22 Crew were lost.
