BORN HULL 1885. SON OF WILLIAM DOUGHTY SPINK (1857-1919) & CATHERINE ELLEN MOODY (1858-1941), OF 8 BRUNSWICK AVENUE, FRANKLIN STREET, HULL. ONE OF THREE SONS, TWO OF WHICH DIED IN THE WAR.
HE MARRIED AT ST AUGUSTINES, HULL, ON 17/08/1912. HIS WIFE LIZZIE (MABANE) SPINK, LIVED AT 121, NEWSTEAD STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 18, SELKIRK STREET, NEWSTEAD STREET, HULL. THEY HAD A SMALL DAUGHTER WINIFRED MAY SPINK,BORN IN 1914. HE WORKED AS A COMPOSITOR BEFORE THE WAR.
HE ENLISTED, HULL, 06/07/1916, AGED 31. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 19/12/1916. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRES. WOUNDED IN THE ELBOW IN MAY 1917; GASSED IN OCTOBER 1917; WOUNDED IN THE HEAD IN MAY 1918. HE DIED OF GUN SHOT WOUNDS AT NO6: GENERAL HOSPITAL, ROUEN, ON 01/06/1918, AGED 33.
HIS BROTHER, GILBERT SPINK, 11TH EYR, HAD BEEN KILLED IN ACTION, ON 31/07/1916, AGED 29.
