BORN WASSAND, YORKSHIRE, 16/03/1860. ELDEST SON OF THE LATE HENRY STRICKLAND-CONSTABLE (1821-1909) & CORNELIA CHARLOTTE ANNE DUMARESQ (1837-1911). EDUCATED AT ETON. COMMISSIONED TO THE HORSE GUARDS, IN 1880. PROMOTED CAPTAIN, IN 1884, MAJOR IN 1911, AND LIEUTENANT COLONEL IN 1913. HE MARRIED MARGARET ELIZABETH PAKENHAM (1873-1961) AT HANOVER SQUARE, LONDON, ON 03/03/1898. SHE WAS DAUGHTER OF ADMIRAL PAKENHAM. HE INHERITED A FORTUNE WHEN HIS FATHER DIED AND THEY LIVED AT WASSAND HALL, SEATON, HULL, WITH SONS HENRY, ROBERT AND DAUGHTER, HILARY. HE WAS TRANSFERRED AS LIEUTENANT COLONEL, TO THE 3RD EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN 1890, AND SERVED WITH THE REGIMENT IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN WARS. HE COMMANDED THE BATTALION, BETWEEN 1913-1916. SERVED WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE, IN FRANCE, UNTIL PUT ON HQ STAFF IN JUNE 1917. HE DIED ON 20/12/1917, AGED 57, AT HAMPSTEAD FREE HOSPITAL, LONDON, AFTER CONTRACTING AN ILLNESS, WHILE ON ACTIVE SERVICE. HE IS BURIED AT SIGGLESTHORNE (ST. LAURENCE) CHURCHYARD, SIGGLESTHORNE, YORKSHIRE. HE LEFT £222,814 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW, CONSTANCE.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE SIGGLESTHORNE WW1 MEMORIAL WHICH INCLUDES 75 MEN WHO SERVED AND ELEVEN WHO DIED IN WW1.
