BORN HULL 1893. THIRD SON OF WILLIAM & BETSY SUTTON, TRANBY LANE, ANLABY, HULL. HE WAS AN EX SHIPYARD WORKER AT SEARS IN HESSLE AND JOINED UP AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. SERVED WITH THE 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/10/1916, AGED 23. HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER, BETSY SUTTON (BORN 1860), AT TRANBY LANE, ANLABY.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM ON 22/12/1916 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. HIS BROTHER HARRY HAD BEED WOUNDED AT GALLIPOLI & HIS OTHER BROTHER GEORGE SERVED WITH THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE ANLABY WW1 MEMORIAL, ST PETER’S CHURCHYARD, WILSON STREET, ANLABY.
