Sykes, Ralph

Born Little Horton, Bradford, 1893. Son of the late Joseph (Joe) Sykes and Sarah Ann Wood (1861-1913), of 277 Park Lane Little Horton, Bradford, Yorks. He had two brothers and three sisters.

Sister of Agnes Sykes (1891-1972) at 462, Stoneferry Road, Hull (War Pension address).

He was a Spinning Room Jobber (1911 Census).

He enlisted at Bradford. Served as Private in the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own) 2nd/5th Bn. Died of wounds, on 01/04/1918, aged 24. Buried at Doullens Communal Cemetery Extension Number One, France.

His grave inscription reads, THY WILL BE DONE.

His army effects and pension were left to his sister, Agnes.
