BORN HULL 1897. SON OF JOHN CARRICK TAYLOR (1855-1942) & ROSE TAYLOR, FROM SWINE. SON OF A MARKET GARDENER. HE HAD ONE OLDER BROTHER, GEORGE AND TWO YOUNGER SISTERS, REBECCA AND MARGARET.
HE JOINED THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, PASSENGER DEPARTMENT, IN HULL, IN JULY 1912. HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE LOCAMOTIVE DEPARTMENT IN NOVEMBER 1912.
ENLISTED HULL. HE SERVED WITH THE 2ND YORKSHIRE REGIMENT AND WAS ONLY 17 YEARS OLD WHEN HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON 27/04/1915. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 07/08/1915, ALONG WITH OTHER NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY MEN TO HAVE FALLEN.
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE SWINE CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR.
HIS BROTHER, GEORGE SERVED IN THE WAR, ON AN ENGLISH SHIP COMMISSIONED BY THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT.
