He was a Saw Mill Labourer (1911 Census) and Mussle Dealer (Army Records). He had six children. He was 5 foot, 4.5 inches tall, 140 lbs weight, 38-40 inch chest,
He enlisted in Hull. Formerly S.E. 23790, Army Vet. Corps. Transferred to the 13th Durham Light Infantry. He died of wounds, on 05/10/1918, aged 37.
He is buried in Beaurevoir, France. His army effects were left to his widow and six children. They later moved to Wales.
